To Hugo & Other Tales
Heliand, and Mary Rowell
November 3-12, 2024
Inspired by Padma Newsome’s “To Hugo” – which was written for a friend in France suffering from illness – the beauty and poignancy on display throughout this program is sure to touch listeners, whether familiar or new to the classical music world. As always, Heliand seeks to inspire and delight you with our blend of the familiar and the unknown. With our opening fall concert, we will share stories about the music we are performing, which includes a broad selection of chamber music selected from composers across the globe, and our own arrangements of pieces for oboe, bassoon, violin and piano.
We look forward to seeing you at our concerts in November in three stunning acoustics in the northeast.
On Sunday, November 3rd at 4 pm, Heliand returns to the Plainfield Opera House, presented by Plainfield Arts. The historic town hall and opera house offers listeners an intimate experience in which to experience our music, with wonderful acoustics thanks in part to the building’s pressed-tin ceilings and walls.
On Sunday, November 10th at 3 pm, Heliand appears for the first time at the Barton United Church in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, featuring a beautifully restored sanctuary with gorgeous stained-glass windows (yes, a Tiffany window among them) and detailed geometric designs painted on the pressed-tin ceilings. The acoustic and beauty of the space alone will inspire you!
Finally, on Tuesday, November 12th at 12 pm, we are thrilled to return to the Troy Savings Bank Music Hall for the Music at Noon Series. It is prized throughout the region as an acoustical gem, and the Music at Noon Concert Series has been running for over 30 years. We are proud to be among this season’s performers and hope to see you there!
