November Vignettes

True to Heliand’s style, our November program presents a cross-section of beloved music from different eras. We feature our own arrangement of trios by Haydn, Beethoven and Chick Corea.

Also on the program is a superb trio written for oboe, bassoon & piano by the 19th century French composer, Clémence de Grandval, a highly influential composer in her time who wrote sacred music, secular songs, chamber music and even operas and symphonies, though many of her works have not survived.

The program title, Vignettes, is inspired by a marvelous trio of evocative folk-influenced tunes from the Americas by the groundbreaking American composer, William Grant Still, a prolific composer and conductor active during the Harlem Renaissance, and beyond.
